Raised in Columbia, Tennessee, James M. Marshall graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1988. He attended Auburn University where he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Law Political Science. In 1993, James spent a year at Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee, working on a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), before being accepted to the Nashville School of Law. While attending the Nashville School of Law, James clerked for two Nashville law firms, Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan, PLLC, and Stewart, Estes & Donnell, PLLC. Upon graduating from the Nashville School of Law in June 1997, James passed the Bar exam in November 1997, and began practicing law in Columbia, Tennessee. James was an associate with Fleming, Flynn, Holloway & Sands, P.C., from 1998 to 2001, before going into sole practice in 2001.
James started Marshall Title & Escrow, LLC, in 2003 and along with his law practice, ran a successful title company from 2003 to 2009. During that time, James handled hundreds of real estate closings and also represented clients in disputed real estate matters, often involving contractual disputes and disclosure issues. In 2009, James moved his law practice to the Spring Hill, Tennessee area, where he continues as a sole practitioner, sharing office space with Attorney Timothy Tull.
James is a member of the Williamson County and Maury County Bar Associations. He has practiced for over seventeen (17) years, during which time he has successfully tried hundreds of domestic, criminal and civil litigation cases, including both jury and non-jury trials.
James went through a divorce himself several years ago and has three (3) amazing children, Wesley, age 11, Jack, age 9, and Emma Grace, age 7. They attend Maury Hills Church in Columbia, Tennessee.
